DIY Jeans with LACE INSERTS
My dear friend gave me a box full of bits n bobs and in amoungst it all were some net curtains with a pretty pattern and a scalloped edge. One side was embossed and the other side had a netting layer and was no where near as impressive.
This is how I made them without a measuring tape or any knowledge of what I'm even doing!!!
How to Make Lace Insert Jeans....
As Instructed From An Absolute Dummy!
1. Unpick the outside edges of the jeans. I unpicked the wrong side, had to sew it up and start again on the right side.
2. Cut net curtain to size. As I had no measuring tape I simply cut a full scallop size piece. From the 2 highest points of the blippy bit and straight up lol
I'm so sorry I am the most worse explainererer.... but I promise I will get better!!!!
3. Using my dressing gown belt I measured my waist then transferred it to the waist of the jeans and measured around the waistband. With the left over piece of the belt, I halved it. This was how much material I needed to extend each side of the jeans.
4. Measuring the lace I worked out even spaces on the outside and pinned it to each side of one leg. This is the distance I needed to make the jeans fit me properly.
5. Then I pinned the bottom of the jean leg to each outer corner of the lace. This created a neat triangle shape. Working my way up the leg i followed the seam of the jean leg and pinned it to the lace.
6. Stitch up each side. Remove pins. Trim excess lace and zigzag stitch up the raw edges to prevent fraying.
And that's it! A completely free pair of custom made jeans. Thanks to the free sale at St Vinnie's and my mate Maggie!!!
This took me 2 hour to complete. I'm getting quicker!!! This was definitely an easy craft to make. If I can do it.... absolutely anyone can!!! All you need is a pair of jeans, some thread and material for your inserts.
